SOS Appointment for Essential Personnel

In accordance with Governor Whitmer’s “Stay Home, Stay Safe” executive order, Secretary Benson has temporarily closed all Secretary of State offices. While online services remain available at Michigan.gov/SOS, it is understood that in some cases in-person services are required for critical infrastructure workers to renew licenses while the executive order is in place. Please note that the SOS will be working on priority appointment for those needed within two weeks.

The Secretary of State has committed to providing emergency in-person services to meet the needs of your critical infrastructure employees who:

1) Governor Whitmer Signed Executive Order 2020-47 which extends Driver's Licenses that are set to expire between March 1 and May 31 to June 30. Do not request renewals at this time if you fall within this category.

2.)  Are not able to conduct the transaction online.

2) Work in a critical infrastructure business as outlined in the governor’s order, and detailed further in a memo by the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency.
