Michigan is home to 27,000 EMS providers

National Emergency Medical Services Week is the perfect time to honor Michigan’s 27,000 EMS providers who provide life-saving services 365 days-a-year, the Michigan Association of Ambulance Services announced today.

May 19-25, 2019 is the 45th annual National EMS Week, a time to show appreciation for the members of emergency medical teams who provide lifesaving care to Michigan residents 24 hours-a-day/7 days-a-week. EMS Week recognizes members of EMS teams who provide quality emergency care that dramatically improves the survival and recovery rate of those who experience illness or injury.

“EMS practitioners are on the front lines of emergency medicine, helping Michiganders get the medical care they need, no matter when or where help is needed,” said MAAS Executive Director Angela Madden. “EMS Week is an excellent time to show our gratitude for the vital public service they provide residents 365 days-a-year.”

Michigan currently has 27,000 EMS providers, 831 life support agencies and more than 2,400 licensed life support vehicles, according to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ Bureau of EMS, Trauma and Preparedness.
