April 26, 2008 2008 Stars of Life Recognition Nomination Deadline: April 4, 2008
We encourage you to nominate your Stars and participate in the 2008 Michigan Association of Ambulance Services’ Stars of Life Celebration. Since there will not be an Ambulance Awareness Day this year, the Stars will be recognized at the Awards Banquet at EMS EXPO on Saturday, April 26, 2008.
For MAAS, there are three main goals for this effort: 1) to expand our reach in disseminating ambulance industry messages; 2) to assist ambulance services in recognizing key personnel; and 3) to increase participation in Ambulance Awareness Day. Specifically, the objectives of our celebration are to:
Reward and congratulate outstanding ambulance service employees;
Enhance the legislators’ opinions of ambulance services;
Promote favorable state legislation;
Minimize or prevent unfavorable state legislation;
Establish contacts within state government before a crisis arises;
Create and maintain a favorable business environment for our members;
Build relationships with state regulatory agencies;
Teach the next generation of ambulance service managers how to participate in government affairs;
Generate positive local media stories regarding ambulance services and their Stars of Life; and
Enhance the profile of National EMS Week across Michigan.

New This Year! 4 vehicle spaces are available on the front walkway of the Capital Building. Other spaces will be available on the street in front of and on the north and south sides of the building. The 4 prime spaces will be auctioned off to the highest bidders to have their vehicles on the lawn of the Capital for Ambulance Awareness Day. Starting bids are $200. Bidding will be closed at 5:00 pm, May 14, 2007. Bids must be e-mailed to the MAAS Office with the highest bids being displayed below.
