HB 4936, No-Fault Auto Insurance, seeks to place healthcare providers on the Worker's Comp Fee Schedule for reimbursement.  While ambulance services are not currently on a fee schedule, if this bill passed in its present form, there would be a push to put ambulance service on a fee schedule and this could be done easily through administrative action.  Legislative action would not be required.  MAAS is requesting that ambulance services be exempted from this provision of the bill.

The Emergency Medical Services Coordination Committee (EMSCC) had a lengthy discussion of CoAEMSP and National Registry at its September 30 meeting.  People in attendance on both sides of the issue had an opportunity to present their comments.  It was a close vote -11 votes to stay with the original decision to no longer use the National Registry and 9 votes to rescind the original decision. This action is just a recommendation to the EMS & Trauma Section of MDCH. It is still the department's decision to make.  With that close a vote, it is anyone's guess as to what the Department will do.
